Linda began her real estate career in Dallas, TX, in April 1992... but the following month moved to Cleveland, OH (following her husband, Michael's, change of ministry) where she became one of Smythe, Cramer Co's TOP PRODUCERS (one of the top independent real estate companies in America).
Then she moved again in December 2000 (once again following her husband's relocation) to the Jacksonville, FL area and settled in Eagle Harbor, one of NE Florida's largest and finest planned communities (among many). There Linda joined Watson Realty Corp. (once again, one of the largest and most successful independent real estate companies in America -- in fact, Watson Realty Corp. lists and sells more than four times the combined total of its four top (as it were) competitors in the NE Florida area) and became a TOP PRODUCER once again.
Linda is originally from the Lapeer, MI area (about 60 miles north of Detroit and 20 miles east of Flint). She was a candidate in the 1970 Miss Michigan Pageant and, in fact, met her husband of nearly 40 years as the result of a full page article that the Pontiac Press (now the Oakland Press in Pontiac, MI) had printed about her -- a paper that Michael's parents mailed him during his last tour of duty with the Korean Military Advisory Group (KMAG) in South Korea in 1968-69. Michael, of course, wrote this interesting, successful (Michael figured that she had to have been "successsful" to be a contender in the Miss Michigan Pageant), and exceptionally attractive woman. He returned home (near Pontiac/Waterford, MI) in October 1969; met Linda for the first time at Western Michigan University (where she had just begun her freshman year) after exchanging tapes, photos, and letters for 8-9 months; and they were married in July 1970 following the Miss Michigan Pageant.
Michael returned in May 1970 to begin his studies again at The University of Michigan (where he originally began in 1965 in the College of Engineering). Linda, however, became the first married and pregnant woman at Concordia College (a two year institution at that time) in Ann Arbor, MI, in September 1970.
Following her husband's graduation from U of M in December 1973, Michael was hired by IBM (one of only 4 people IBM hired from a U of M campus interview pool of 900+) as a computer salesman and they moved to Southern California (Irvine/Newport Beach area) in July 1974 with their two boys (Nathan, age 3+, and Alex, age 1+) in tow for the next three years.
Then, in 1977, IBM transferred Michael, Linda, and their two sons to IBM's Southfield, MI office where they purchased a new home about 19 miles north in the affluent suburb of Rochester in northern Oakland County (north of Detroit, Southfield, Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, and Troy).

REV. MICHAEL HACKBARDT Michael is a Sales Associate (please note that Michael had to get his real estate license so that he could talk). A person must have a real estate license to engage in activities and give counsel. His full time vocation is the executive director of a mission society that does translation work.

As you saw in the dialogue above about Linda, she and Michael met through the newspaper when (then) Sgt. Donald Michael Hackbardt was an advisor with the Korean Military Advisory Group in the farthest NE part of South Korea backing up US Air Force officers as they called in air strikes against North Korean infiltrators Michael actually served above the 38th parallel in that mountainous area of the country.
Nevertheless, although Michael was an appointee of his State of Michigan congressman to the US Naval Academy... he failed his physical because of his 20/40 vision in his left eye, which he later discovered could have been waived.
So he went to The University of Michigan on an academic scholarship (because he had been sick most of his Senior year in high school, he was denied an athletic scholarship), but still played Freshman basketball as a "walk on" in 1965, then tore his ankle up just before Christmas. Then, after three years in the US Army, Michael came home in October 1969 to finish his undergraduate degree. He finally graduated in December 1973 after spending time in the School of Engineering; a year in the Physical Education program (when he was in the off season work out part of the football program the summer he returned from Korea); the School of Literature, Science, and Arts; and two years in U of M's Business School. Quite an academic career, but one that many people know has served him exceptionally well.
Following graduation in December 1973 Michael was hired as a computer salesman and moved to Southern California where he was one of their top salesmen in 1976. In 1977 Michael was transferred to Southfield, MI (a suburb of Detroit) where he was one of IBM's top salespeople in 1980, 1981, and 1982.
In July 1982 Michael shocked the IBM corporation and it's top managment with his resignation (given his sales accomplishments and expected executive path) and entered Concordia Theological Seminary (Ft. Wayne, IN) to study for the Christian ministry where he obtained his Master of Divinity (M.Div.) degree. That led him to become a parish pastor from 1986-88 in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota, a member of the seminary staff for nearly three years (that he had attended from 1982-86), was offered the VP of Advancement position at the largest Social Service organization in Texas after serving as their Director of Development (North Texas) from 1991-92, and then left Texas to assume the leadership of God's Word to the Nations Bible Society (
www.godsword.org) in Cleveland, OH, in June 1992. The Society moved to the Orange Park, FL area in April 2005.
As most people know, Michael is skilled in formating, translation, linguistics, research techniques of all types (he does all the layout and research for LINDA'S LETTER), business skills that few people possess, negotiation, marketing strategy, and (of course) sales. Thanks be to God for all the gifts and talents that he has blessed Michael with! Although God gets all the glory, he really has made Michael the "expert" in this area.
